Acetate, polycarbonate, metal or bamboo: choosing your frame

The material of a frame decides how it feels on your face, how it wears and how it looks. Our range uses four of them.
Acetate
Made from cellulose and cut from sheets, acetate can be layered in colour, which is why it is the home of tortoise patterns and two-tone frames. It has a bit of weight and a rich finish. Round shapes such as the Alley are built in acetate.
Polycarbonate
Light and impact resistant, polycarbonate is a good all-day material. Models like the Laguna Beach use it for the frame and the lens.
Metal
Thin lines and a light feel. Metal frames such as the Atlanta suit round and pilot shapes and pair well with flat or revo lenses.
Bamboo and wood
Bamboo arms and wood-finish details bring a natural look. Because the material is natural, the grain changes from pair to pair. Browse them all in Wood & Bamboo.
Looking after each one
- All frames: rinse with fresh water after salt water, wipe with a soft cloth and store in a case.
- Bamboo and wood: dry them after a swim and keep them out of a hot car.
- Metal: wipe off sweat and sunscreen, which can dull a finish over time.
How to pick
